VOTE MUSIC: The campaign set to supercharge the NSW music industry
For those of our clients who are based or have been promoting events in NSW over the past few years, it will come to no surprise to you that the live music industry is asking for help.
The music industry in New South Wales has put forward an appeal for a $100M funding plan called 'Vote Music' ahead of the state election on 25 March. The Coalition has not committed to supporting the plan, but the NSW Labor and the Greens NSW have both backed it, with independent candidates also endorsing the proposal. The Vote Music plan aims to supercharge NSW's music industry, which is still recovering from the lockdowns and lockouts of previous years.
If successful, the plan will be the largest investment in contemporary music ever, nearly three times the amount recently committed in Victoria. As proud lovers and supporters of all things live, Moshtix encourages everyone to read and pledge their support for the plan, share your support on social media and encourage others to back the campaign and commit to voting music in the upcoming election.
The three key goals for this funding are highlighted as:
Establish a Contemporary Music Office in government to drive music development.
Provide significant government investment in artists, and industry initiatives.
Protecting and building venues, festivals and spaces to make NSW a proud home of contemporary music.
We all know that investment in music is good for the economy - for every $1 spent on music, and further $3 is returned to the community in social, cultural and economic value. It is time to let our leaders and parties know that this industry is vital, not only for the economy, but for fans and the community alike. This package will benefit audiences and fans as it will support more tours, more opportunities for live music and a more vibrant nightlife in NSW.
