Check Out The Winners Of This Year's AIR Awards
Australia's best independent artists and labels were celebrated at last week's virtual AIR Awards, including some moving performances from Emma Donovan & The Putbacks, DMA’s, and Wolf & Cub.
Sydney trio, DMA's stole the spotlight, taking out three awards on the night. Their 2020 LP 'The Glow' was crowned Album of the Year and Best Rock Album. The Avalanches remix of the outfits track 'Criminals' also scored them Best Independent Dance, Electronica or Club single.
As longstanding sponsors of the awards, Moshtix was delighted to see local all-rounders I Oh You take home the title of Independent Label of the Year sponsored by Moshtix.
Perth indie 4-piece Spacey Jane also scored multiple awards, going home with Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year and Independent Song of the Year for 'Booster Seat', while Deena Lynch aka Jaguar Jonze was named as the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award for her work in calling out sexual misconduct within the industry.
Other winners on the night included Gordi with Best Independent Pop Album, Banoffee with Best Independent Dance or Electronica Album, Chillinit with Best Independent Hip-Hop Album and The Chats with Best Independent Punk Album.
Polaris, Vika & Linda, Fanny Lumsden, Katie Noonan, and Teeny Tiny Stevies were also among the award recipients. A full list of 2021 AIR Award winners listed below.
