Save Our Stages NSW Call On Public For Further Support To Save NSW's Live Music Industry
Save Our Stages NSW is calling on the public for further support to help urge the government for immediate action.
The 70+ independent live music venues behind the Save Our Stages NSW initiative are asking NSW residents to send a letter to their local Member of Parliament, urging the government to act swiftly to save the live music industry.
Chief Operating Officer for Century Venues, Sam Nardo, said, "If the government doesn't act soon to help save our live music industry, we'll see more venues forced to close and with them, thousands of jobs will be lost and an important part of our local communities gone forever."
In September 2020, Save Our Stages also launched an e-Petition and within 30 hours received over 20,000 signatures and was the first to qualify to be debated in Parliament. Since then, no date has been set for the debate.
This follows months of stringent COVID safety measures and social distancing restrictions which have led many live music venues to operate at a loss.
