Splendour XR - World First Extended Reality Festival Is Set To Take Place This July.
Splendour in the Grass are taking things one step further this year, announcing a world first extended reality edition on sale now via Moshtix for fans across Australia and New Zealand, and Universe for international markets.
Splendour XR will run across two days in July (Sat 24 and Sun 25 July) and will be available to watch on mobile, tablet, browser, desktop and VR.
The virtual festival will see the likes of Khalid, The Killers, CHVRCHES, Denzel Curry, Charli XCX, Vance Joy, Duke Dumont, Grimes Metaverse (Super Beta), The Avalanches and Tash Sultana perform across Splendour XR’s digital stages, created in collaboration with San Francisco based social virtual reality developers, Sansar.
Using Sansar’s technology, punters can deep dive into the world of Splendour XR from the comfort of their couch, with the ability to create their own virtual self and move through a recreation of Splendour’s Byron Bay site. And just like Splendour IRL, fans will also be able to create their own schedule, travel from stage to stage and meet up with mates along the way.

Alongside the music, art and festival feels, XR will also focus on some more serious topics, like raising funds for live music industry workers, mental health and wellbeing, and sustainability. You will be able to kick off your Splendour XR day with a spot of yoga at Global Village, and you can even set those rug rats up with Little Splendour throughout this two day cornucopia of immersive arts and live music at its best.

Splendour XR will include an online medical centre to assist any patrons who are struggling with their mental health in this Covid world. And XR is committed to managing emissions and creating a clean and green platform with a minimal carbon footprint.
Splendour XR will operate globally on a single timezone, 2pm to 2am AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time)(GMT +11). All video content will be available as VOD for 7days after the event. It will be available via the web and mobile versions.
Tickets for the virtual festival are available now with existing Splendour in the Grass 2021 ticket holders eligible for discounted early bird tickets.
